About Me

Hi My name is Liseth and one of the things I remember most when I was growing up was watching my grandmother sew fabric into the most beautiful creations. That's where my love for sewing came from. I love to travel and learn different cultures. As well hike and spend time with loved ones. My future goal: I hope to one day go to Thailand and Bora Bora.

To Trip or not?

To trip or not is the question? As the wedding is nearing we are in the mist of booking our trip to Puerto Rico, though after thinking and consideration I was thinking if we should take a trip. My fiance and I have not taken any trips in a few years and thought we very well deserve one, though we also have a home with no furniture. I know that as we save more money we will get furniture we have the basics to get by, though in your opinion if you could have furniture vs a trip would you?

  1. Congrats on your upcoming wedding. I can't say what I would do, but I'm sure whatever you choose you won't regret.

  2. That's a hard one. On one hand if you work hard and haven't been on a trip in awhile, you should go. But some would say that the practical choice would be to buy furniture...

  3. I say go for the trip. To me, the memories of a wonderful trip would mean more than some furniture. As long as you have the enough furniture to get by with, you can always get the rest later. My husband and I also questioned whether we should go on our UK honeymoon or if we should use the money on something more practical. We went on the honeymoon and we certainly don't regret it.

By the way, do you have a Habitat for Humanity ReStore near you? If so, you should check it out. They tend to have good deals on second hand furniture. We got most of our furniture there.

  6. I say go for the trip, if you can!! My husband and I couldn't afford one for our honeymoon, but finally went to Italy for our 20th anniversary. We were amazed at how cheaply we could do it on our own (with a lot of help from Rick Steve's travel books!) and really wish we had thought to try it as our honeymoon for even more special memories of starting out our lives together… *Ü*

  7. I'm a very practical person, and unlike some of the other people I would get what I need. However, you didn't specify what kind of furniture. If you have no where for guests to sit, or do not have a bed, that is two different things. If it was me, I would get the furniture and do a "stay-cation" and look up places to go and things to do near you that are FREE (or nearly free) and enjoy your time that way.

  8. I say go, you deserve it and the furniture will come slowly as you save for it :)

  9. WEll, two ways to look at it. Take a weekend away now and buy furniture and save up for the trip in the future, or take the now and sit on the floor. I'd buy furniture and take a mini vacation near home.

  10. Go for the TRIP!!! people understand a honeymoon after you marry. Later it becomes more difficult with work obligations and procrastination. BTW you can always buy furniture later. That's half the fun of being newlyweds!!!

  11. I think I would go on a mini getaway closer to home even if just for a few days. It will still be something you'll always remember while leaving you with a little extra money for the necessary furniture.

  12. If you have the money for the trip, GO. I regret not going to Israel after saving up half the money. The trip was cancelled and we bought a sleep number bed instead of a trip.

  14. Trip! Lasting memories far outweigh material belongings. Go, go, go!

  15. I agree with both sides. If there is a way for you to furnish your home by visiting resellers and consignment shops, go for it. On the vacation side, find ways to bring the cost down. As gorgeous as the seaside view may be, think about how much time you're spending in your room. Maybe the trip isn't Puerto Rico, but South Carolina. Life doesn't always have to be all or nothing.

  21. Furniture, of course, seems to be the practical choice, is there anyway to change to location of the trip to somewhere like Cancun, which can be relatively inexpensive? Also, check out other options to hotels, such as vacation rentals by the owner, couch surfing, etc.
Either way - enjoy the decision!!
