About Me

My photo
Hi My name is Liseth and one of the things I remember most when I was growing up was watching my grandmother sew fabric into the most beautiful creations. That's where my love for sewing came from. I love to travel and learn different cultures. As well hike and spend time with loved ones. My future goal: I hope to one day go to Thailand and Bora Bora.

Got Dessert?

With Christmas around the corner, shopping is all done, main dinner feast will be done by my parents....now what should I make for dessert?

Last 2 years I made a rum cake which did really well, it was gone in a few hours LOL. With all the cold weather lately I think I might make some cookies the day before, but for the main day I want to try a new dessert. So please help with ideas and tell me, what is your favorite holiday dessert?

On a roller-coaster!

I haven't posted in a while so I'd thought I'd bring you up to date :o) since my last post we had put an offer on a house which we later found out days later they had accepted another offer. Then about 3 weeks ago we found out the house we loved was back on the market.

We put in the offer again and 4 days later surprisingly we were accepted! Let the roller coaster begin!!!! A few days later we did inspection, which to our surprise it went very well. Place is a fixer upper on the inside, but we love it! So my boyfriend and I decided it was time to tell my parent and his mom about the home and he formally asked my parents for my hand.

He hasn't officially given me my ring yet and I had told my parents to wait till I got it before telling the relatives, but my parents were so excited and itching to tell people so I said just go ahead.

My parents have been like little kids with thinking of the wedding (I'm their only daughter), looking at bridal magazines etc... My vision is to have a rustic wedding, ceremony will be in this local area where my boyfriend and I sometimes go and walk and I want to release butterflies.

Go ahead and promote your store with ideas that would fit the theme or ideas you may have in general, I would love to hear them!

To Speak or not?

So a few changes in my life should be happening in the near future. My long time boyfriend took me ring shopping a little over a month ago and we are looking at trying to buy a home. I'm dying to tell my mom, but.....he said he'd asked for my hand from my dad which he hasn't done yet.

2nd part: My mom knows I've been trying to get a place of my own, I tried to get a condo on my own 2 years ago and have been actively searching, only thing I saw in my budget was a major fixer up. Last few months my boyfriend and I have been looking at homes and found a place to our liking, not our first city of choice but decent and most important in our price range. We are in the process of putting in our 1st offer on it. This Sunday I showed my mom this house and told her I might put an offer, the catch is she dosen't know yet it will be with my other half.

I hate the fact that my parents don't know what I'm doing. What do you think should I wait for him to spill the beans to my parents?

Hike update!!!

Well Sunday was hiking day, 5 hour hike round trip.

hiking through the lake various times to continue onto the trail

walking on rocks, uphill, down hill and finally to the bridge that leads to nowhere to just sit relax and watch the bungee jumpers.  I have to say

this was the funnest hike I've been on. Though 2 days later and my legs are still sore LOL.

Hiking ....Bridge to Nowhere!

So this Sunday should be interesting, I'm going on a hike that my cousin told me that her parents went on called: Bridge to nowhere in Azusa, CA.

There is is an isolated concrete bridge perched over the San Gabriel River leading neither from nor to any destination. It is a total of 9 mile hike round trip about 4 1/2 hour hike.

They say the most challenging think about the hike is to see how many times you can avoid water to cross to the other side...in other words you will get wet!

here's some other pics that I found on the sites for this trail, oh and some people even bungee jump on the bridge too!

Just venting

Sometimes we just need to vent...doesn't it always same that when fixtures are needed it rains, well I'm helping my parents pay the bill for fumigation and plus we need a new roof on the house, new bathroom sink and fix a leaking pipe...eeek!

on top of this, work. I go in a happy mood and somehow others just try to stomp me down in their bitterness. Gossip, favoritism, lying etc...Whatever happened to the days that we could go to work and work, play nice. We have to be with each other 10hours a day why make it harder.

Well almost to Friday right :o) and thank goodness I'm off.

Camp update!

2 weeks ago I went to Camp Ronald Mcdonald good times and what an experience. I got to be an actives counselor and was given the task of community service to make blankets to children/adults whom have long term stay in the hospital due to cancer

and did a nature activity.

In addition I was also attached to this cabin of boys
this was the cabin I was attached to after I was done with my day's actives

The children's day were full of actives from swimming, archery, adventure, games like minute to win it, horse back riding, dancing, as well as go up on a hot air balloon etc.

it was amazing seeing the children's faces light up and see them grow, to allow them to be children and forget of the battle of cancer they themselves or their siblings may be dealing with. I went into this camp feeling as a stranger and left feeling part of a family. I can't wait to go back next year.

In addition I've been featured in this blog:
Here is a free giveaway, have a chance to win a reversible hat or purse!

Becoming a Geisha

Back in September I went on Holiday with my older brother to Tokyo. I have a fascination with the Japanese culture and here is one highlight of my trip.

My brother and I went to the city of Kyoto, beautiful city lots of green every, peaceful and they have special green kit kat bars...yummy.

Well anyways I found a tourist website where they dress you up and put on make-up, wig, kimono etc.. just as a really Geisha. When my family saw this it tripped them out and couldn't believe it was me:

here's what I really look like the person next to me is my brother:

now here's the after picture, the kimono and items under it are super heavy and hard to move in I could barely breathe, but it was worth it:

Let's Camp

Summer is in the air, kids are ready to go on summer break....what's next? Camp of course!
Here's something I've wanted to volunteer for a few years:

http://www.campronaldmcdonald.org/

I've finally decided this is the year! I have a few weeks of vacation saved up for work so why not! I'm really excited I'm going to be a activities volunteer I have 2 days of training and will be with the kids at camp for 7 days, I'm sure it will be a rewarding challenge. The camp leaders I've meet at the interview and orientation are very enthusiastic and fun, including the volunteers that will be there when I'm volunteering.

They have lots of fun activities planned for these children like archery, swimming, basket making, fishing, game show, Harry potter themed dinner etc...These children really look forward to being able to be a "child" for a week without having to worry about there illness/limitations they may have at the moment. Let us take a moment and as God to bless them and give them strength to get better and give them hope for a brighter future.

Wish me luck on the activities :o)
